Mission

To inspire, engage, and transform communities by reaching out to feed the minds, bodies, and souls of youth.

Goal

To provide a free Christ centered tutoring program for at risk children in the Marion County and Indianapolis area.   Children in grades K through 5 will be given opportunities to improve their educational outcomes, enhance their social skills, establish lasting relationships, and share the love of Christ.

We have replicated the very successful model of Rebecca’s Garden of Hope Tutoring and Mentoring program founded 12 years ago by Sanya Parsons at Our Savior Lutheran Church (LCMS) in Orlando, FL.  Rebecca’s Garden of Hope Tutoring and Mentoring Program at Our Savior Evangelical Lutheran Church in Indianapolis, IN started in April 2016 with 10 children and 5 tutors.  Our numbers have grown in the fall semester 2017.  We average 20-30 students in grades K through 5 and average 11 tutors every Tuesday and Thursday evenings.

Our Schedule:

  • 5:00 pm – 5:15 pm Students and tutors’ arrival
  • 5:15 pm – 5:30 pm Prep Time
  • 5:30 pm – 6:00 pm Free Dinner
  • 6:00 pm – 7:00 pm Tutoring
  • 7:00 pm – 7:30 pm Bible Lesson and Activities

RGOH has partnered with several College and Universities - Indiana University Purdue University at Indianapolis (IUPUI), Ivy Tech Community College and University of Indianapolis for tutors.  Ivy Tech Community College is located across the street from our church.  The Program Chair of the Education department at Ivy Tech has required her college students (future teachers) to serve as tutors in RGOH.  They are required to complete 20 hours each semester.  This is a win win situation for RGOH and Ivy Tech.
